Kia Carens receives 5 stars for child safety in Global NCAP test, Honda Amaze scores zero
Kia carens has becomes the latest car to secure a five star rating for child safety in the crash test of Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP). However, the 5-star rating is awarded for only the child safety but the SUV received only three stare for adult safety.
Global NCAP conducted a series of test on Kia Carens, Honda Amaze, and Mahindra Bolero Neo and awarded three, two, and one star ratings respectively. This will be the last evaluation under Global NCAP’s Safer Cars for India initiative as the country has now got its own Bharat NCAP safety evaluation program.

Global NCAP awarded the 2024 Kia Carens with a 5 stars for child safety and a 3-star rating for adult safety. According to the car assessment program, Kia Carens now sports a better quality overall build with enhanced neck performance and restraint systems.
Alejandro Furas, Global NCAP Secretary-General, said, “There has been an improvement in Kia’s rating for the Carens since our original test when the model scored a zero rating for adult occupant protection. However, we were expecting a better performance in the retest given the Carens is fitted with six airbags as standard.”
Meanwhile, the Honda Amaze has failed to get any stars in the crash test for child safety. The Honda Amaze has seen a drop in ratings under more stringent testing standards in comparison to its 2019 assessment results. In 2019, Honda Amaze got four-star rating for adult occupant protection and one star for child occupant protection. However, the sedan’s rating dropped to two stars for adult safety and zero stars for child protection this year.
“Regrettably, Honda did not take the opportunity to update the Amaze with more safety features which explains its disappointing score,” added Furas.
