Over 75 injured as two buses collide in New York

Over 75 people were injured after a double-decker tour bus and a city bus collided on the street in New York City on Thursday evening (local time).

New York: Over 75 people were injured after a double-decker tour bus and a city bus collided on the street in New York City on Thursday evening (local time).

Nearly 27 people were immediately rushed to the hospital while 50 others were treated on the spot. The double-decker bus crashed into the back of an MTA express bus on East 23rd Street and First Avenue in Manhattan at about 7.15 pm (local time) on Thursday, the New York Post reported.

According to MTA officials, the double-decker tour bus blew a red light and crashed into the X27 bus which was carrying about 20 New Yorkers on board.

As per the authorities report, none of the victims were critically injured. Both buses were pecked during the incident, resulting in a high number of passengers being examined.

New York City Transit President Richard Davey said that the driver of the sight-seeing bus reportedly sped through a red light before the collision. The police are on the spot and investigating the matter.
