Avery Emerson Fisher, a 13-year-old girl from the United States, has broken the record for the most magic tricks performed underwater in three minutes.

Fisher, who is a scuba diving enthusiast and a budding magician, performed an incredible 38 tricks in the time limit, surpassing the previous record of 20 set by professional magician Martin Rees from the UK in 2020.

The idea to combine her two passions came about during the pandemic when Fisher was 10 years old. She had always been fascinated by the underwater world and had recently taken up scuba diving.

After earning her open water diver certification, Fisher continued to practice her skills and eventually earned a total of 12 scuba diving certificates. She also went on more than 30 ocean dives, further fueling her passion for marine conservation and ocean stewardship.

Partnering her newfound passion for scuba diving with her love of magic, Fisher decided to attempt the Guinness World Record for the most magic tricks performed underwater.

On November 11, 2023, Fisher headed to the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco, California, to showcase her super skills.

Despite the cold temperatures in the tunnel aquarium, Fisher felt at home in the water and was eager to demonstrate her illusions. She had prepared a total of 50 tricks, but her goal was to perform as many as she could within the three-minute time limit.

Family and friends watched from the tunnel as Fisher worked her way through her tricks, which included card tricks, coin tricks, and even a vanishing act.

After the three minutes were up, footage of Fisher’s attempt was reviewed by a Guinness World Records Adjudicator and a pair of expert witnesses. They confirmed that she had successfully executed 38 illusions, breaking the previous record by a significant margin.
