India A Free Society, Successfully Lifting Millions Out Of Poverty: Donald Trump

New York: In his address at the 73rd United Nations General Assembly session on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump applauded India’s effort in poverty alleviation and said that the country has been tirelessly working towards bringing a change in the lives of millions of its poor.

During his address, Trump said, “We think of the many before us who have come here to address the challenges of their nations and of their times and our thoughts turn to the same question that ran through all their speeches, resolutions and through every word and every hope.” “It is the question of what kind of world will we leave for our children and what kind of nations they will inherit.”

Notably, this was Trump’s second address at the UN General Assembly. In his 35-minute long speech, the US President also praised Saudi Arabia’s bold new reforms and Israel “proudly celebrating” its 70th anniversary as a thriving democracy in the Holy Land.

The UN General Assembly session, which is taking place at New York city, will conclude on October 5. Leaders from 193 UN member states are attending the General Assembly Session where External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is representing India.
