Nigeria: In a tragic incident, seven worshippers were killed after a part of mosque collapsed in northwestern Nigeria’s Kaduna state during prayers on Friday (Aug 11).
Zaria Emirates council spokesman Abdullahi Kwarbai said the incident occurred as hundreds of faithful observed afternoon prayers at the city’s central mosque.
“Four bodies were found initially, and then three others were found after the rescue team searched the collapsed mosque,” he said as quoted by Reuters.
Twenty-three people were sent to hospital, the state Emergency Management Agency said.
The state officials said the mosque was constructed in the 1830s.
