4 sustained injuries after explosion at building in Shimbashi area of Tokyo

Tokyo: Four people were injured after an explosion was reported in a building in the bustling Shimbashi district of Tokyo.

Footage showed flames and smoke coming from the shattered windows on the second floor of a building in the Shimbashi area of the capital.

The fire started in a building in a restaurant area of the bustling Shimbashi district around 3:15 pm (local time).

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

On being informed about the incident, a total of 32 fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

Two of the injured were employees of a restaurant believed to be the source of the explosion, with the other two passersby.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is probing further details.
