3 killed in Turkish drone attack on PKK Militants in Northern Iraq

A Turkish drone strike in northern Iraq on Friday killed three members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Iraqi Kurdish officials said.

Iraq: A recent drone attack carried out by Turkey in northern Iraq killed three people belonging to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), according to officials from Iraqi Kurdistan. This marks the fifth such drone attack within the week against Kurdish militants, as reported by the news agency Reuters.

The incident took place on the main road connecting Penjwen to Sulaimaniya, where the victims were traveling in a vehicle and were struck by the drone, as confirmed by Kurdish security sources cited by Reuters.

In this specific drone strike on Friday, the target was a PKK vehicle located near the village of Nalparez in the Sulimaniyah province, along the route to the Iranian border. The Kurdish region’s counter terrorism department released a statement via the news agency AFP, stating, “A senior PKK official, a fighter, and a driver were killed in the attack.”

The day before, the Turkish Defence Ministry announced that they had lost at least six soldiers in clashes with the PKK in northern Iraq, as reported by AFP. Occasional statements condemning the violation of Iraqi sovereignty are released, especially in situations where civilian casualties occur.
