WhatsApp’s new app for windows now available for download: How to get it

WhatsApp was reported to be developing desktop apps for both Windows and macOS a few days ago. Now, a beta version of the app for Windows-based PCs has appeared on the Microsoft Windows App Store and is available for download.

The new Universal Windows App (UWP) will be an alternative to WhatsApp Web. Previously, the WhatsApp web was used to access the instant messaging app on desktops and laptops.

The advantages of the app is that you can directly acces the chatting app without needing to go through browsers like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox or others to open and use WhatsApp Web.

The system requirements to run the app are an x64 architecture-based CPU and Windows 10 version 14316.0 or higher.

How to download and use WhatsApp desktop app for Windows?

Step 1: Go to the Microsoft Windows Store.

Those who don’t know how to go to Microsoft Windows Store, they can simply type store in the Start Menu and the Windows Store app will appear first.

Step 2: Now Search for WhatsApp Desktop on top of the top search bar.

Step 3: You will find the app. Then click on the ‘Get’ to download the application.

Step 4: Install the desktop app by giving the required data and permissions.

Step 5: Now the WhatsApp desktop is ready to use.

As the app is still in the beta version, some issues have been reported. Many users have commented in the review section that the WhatsApp Desktop crashes on Windows 11. So, you should opt for the WhatsApp Web for now as it is more stable than the WhatsApp Desktop. The WhatsApp web has gotten better with the updated multi-device support feature.

The multi-device feature allow users to use WhatsApp on your PC even if the phone does not have any internet connection after linking it with Whatsapp Web.
