WhatsApp tips and tricks: How to hide typing status in your chats

WhatsApp users are increasing day-by-day as more people are getting access to high speed internet and smartphones now-a-days. The meta-owned app offers various features that helps users to make voice/video calls, send text messages or media files or documents to friends and families easily.

The app also offers many privacy and security feature that provides users safe and secure chatting experience. Among the features, the typing status of WhatsApp sometimes annoys people or the users who don’t want it to show when they are online, their online and typing status activity to the contact. However, there is no way to hide when you are online or typing.

But you can hide your typing status in the chat window by following this.

There are two ways you can hide typing status, lets check them out

First method: Turn off internet or turn on Airplane mode

If you are using the original WhatsApp version, then follow the steps below to be able to hide your online activity.

• Switch off your internet connectivity (Mobile Data or Wi-Fi) or just turn on Airplane mode before opening WhatsApp app.
• Open WhatsApp and go to the chat window of the contact or group, you want to respond to.
• Then send the message and exit WhatsApp.
• Now, turn on your internet connection back or turn off Airplane mode and your messages will deliver to the recipient.
• In this way, they will not notice that you are typing. And your last seen will also remain unchanged.

If you find this to be too much work then you can follow this second method.

Second method: Use WhatsApp GB

Since there is no official feature which allows users to hide the online and typing status, you can do this on the knock-off version, WhatsApp GB, which is a Whatsapp mod for Android devices. It unlocks many hidden features of WhatsApp you may not have heard of.

• Download the WhatsApp GB and install the application.
• Open the app and verify your WhatsApp account.
• Go to the WhatsApp menu option by tapping on the three dots on the right corner and tap on Privacy option.
• Tap the Writing Status and select the desired.
• Choose between Hide for contacts if you want to hide typing status for personal messages or choose Hide for the group if you want to hide your typing status from WhatsApp groups.
