ISRO launches free certification courses in Remote sensing, GIS

The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), a part of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), is offering an incredible opportunity for people to learn about Remote sensing, Geographical Information System (GIS), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies.

ISRO’s remote sensing and GIS course is for students, scientists, university faculty, researchers, and professionals from various fields. It is a chance for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge.

The course will cover how remote sensing and GIS are used in different areas like agriculture, forestry, ecology, geoscience, marine, and atmospheric sciences, urban and regional studies, and even water resources. It provides valuable skills and insights for these important fields.

Participants will be getting access to resources like PDF lectures, recorded video lessons, open-source software, and demonstration hand outs. All of this can be found on the E-Class and ISRO LMS (Learning Management System). Combined, these will make learning easy.

Further, there are 10,000 spots for the full course and an additional 5,000 for individual modules. Nodal centre coordinators will also get 25 seats for each course they manage. Once you complete at least 70 percent of the total session hours, you will receive a course completion certificate. These will serve as a valuable addition to your professional qualifications.

This opportunity is open to undergraduate and post graduate students, government technical and scientific staff, university faculty, researchers, and professionals in technical and scientific fields. You can sign up on your own or through your nodal centre before the application deadline.

The course duration has been set from November 6, 2023 to November 17, 2023. The registration window for the same will remain open till November 3, 2023.
