Google Maps introduces new features to make travelling more easy

Google Maps has been updated with three new features that will help users with their plans for summer vacations. The three new features are supported in both Android and iOS.
As the holiday season is ongoing and people are travelling to new places, the use of Google Maps have increased. And the new features will make the platform more helpful and easier for you to use during your vacation.

The three new Google Maps features are curated lists, manuaaly arrange places in a list, AI-generated summary of a place. Let’s check the feature uses and benefits.

Google Maps curated lists

With the new curated list feature, Google Maps will now show three lists, the top list, the trending list, and the gems list when the user search for a location.
The top list will contain places that has been searched the most and the trending list will show the places that have seen a spike in popularity on Maps recently and the last gems list will show you places that might be a neighborhood’s best-kept secret.
Along with it, Google Maps will show lists from major platforms, such as Lonely Planet, The New York Times, and OpenTable, as well as lists curated by the Google Maps community. All these lists should give you a better idea about a place and help you decide what to explore and what to eat. The curated lists will be available in more than 40 cities across the U.S. and Canada this week.”

Reorder places in lists

Google Maps now allows users to add a new place in any place of a list, which was not allowed previously. Prior to this, the users were allowed to create lists and add places to them but there was no option to to reorder places, which means changing places of a place in the list was not allowed.
With the addition of the new feature, users can now to move a place up or down for whatever reasons.

According to Google, you can now “choose the order places appear in your lists,” which should make it easier for you to create a ranked list of your favorite places to help you provide the best recommendations. Cjurrently, the feature has gone live on the platform.

AI-generated summary of a place

Google Maps will now show an AI-generated summary of a place when you swipe up on it. Moreover, Google Maps will now show names of dishes when you are scrolling through photos of food, and will show you helpful information about it. For example, it will display the costs, if it’s popular, and even if it’s vegetarian or vegan. This will make it easier for users to make reservations.
