Youth dies, 2 critical during fitness test for police job in Odisha

Cuttack: A 20-year-old aspiring police constable died and two others were critical after falling ill during the physical test for recruitment as constable to the Indian Reserve Battalion, under Odisha Police, on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Pradhan, a native of Narsinghpur in Cuttack district.

According to reports, Pradhan and two others were immediately rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital after they fell ill while running the 1600 meters as part of test at the Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAP) Seventh Battalion Ground in Cuttack. But, Pradhan breathed his last while undergoing treatment in the government hospital.

The other two candidates are undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical.

Meanwhile, the villagers and family members of the deceased youth staged a road blockade on Narsinghpur-Cuttack road alleging that Pradhan died because of delay in treatment and negligence on the part of recruitment staff. They also demanded compensation and action against the culprits.
