Mayurbhanj: A female devotee got serious burn injuries after her saree caught fire from an earthen lamp at the Debshola Shiv temple under Rasagobindpur Police limits here. She was at the temple for Mahashivratri being celebrated on Monday.
The victim has been identified as Anjali Bannerjee who is a resident of Rasagobindpur of Mayurbhanj district. She was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and is currently under treatment.
As per reports, devotees had made a beeline to the Debshola Shiv temple and were made to enter the temple in queues in an orderly manner. The victim was also standing in the queue when her saree caught fire from a lighted earthen lamp. The fire spread before she realized.
Necessary first aid was provided to the victim and as of now, she has been shifted to Baripada hospital where she is getting adequate treatment.
