Khordha: A woman was killed and four others including two children were critically hurt after a car hit their scooter from rear on National Highway-16 near Kanheipur under Nachuni police limits in Khordha on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Saila Ghadei of Sankhei village of Nayagarh district.
Saila was travelling on a Hero Duet along with her two children, brother-in-law and another woman relative when the tragedy struck. Driver of a car owned by a former MLA of Sanakhemundi lost control over the wheels and hit the Scooty from behind.
While all the victims sustained critical injuries in the crash, some bystanders rushed them to Balugaon hospital immediately after the mishap. Saila was declared brought dead by doctors subsequently.
Police have lodged a case in connection with the crash and detained the driver of the car involved in the same.
