Kendrapara: A middle-aged woman set herself ablaze in Khadianga village under Kendrapara Town Police Station area here on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Anusuya Singh (52).
As per the husband of the deceased, he had been to attend nature’s call to a field near his house when the self-immolation took place. Anusuya poured kerosene all over her body to set her ablaze.
The deceased’s husband further claimed that she was mentally sick and had been admitted to SCB Medical in Cuttack a few months back after consuming bleaching powder.
Police have seized the body for autopsy after reaching the spot and carrying out the preliminary investigation with the help of the scientific team.
