Puri: Odisha Police nabbed a wanted criminal after an encounter at Charichhak area in Gop in the district late last night.
Anant Behera , who was involved in over 10 cases of dacoity in the district, suffered a gunshot injury in his left leg during the encounter, informed Puri SP Sathak Sarangi.
Following a tip-off about Anant’s presence in Gop, police went after him and spotted him at the market area. The criminal hurled a bomb to escape, but got injured in retaliatory firing by the police.
Anant was immediately rushed to Charichhak health centre. Later, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
