Bhubaneswar: Veteran Ollywood actress Aparajita Mohanty will join BJP on February 19. This was informed by Pitambar Acharya, spokesperson of the saffron party.
Aparajita’s joining in BJP at the crucial juncture when Bijepur by-election in Bargarh district is round the corner, could be seen as a big boost for the saffron party as it got a star campaigner for it’s candidate Ashok Kumar Panigrahi.
Aparajita had quit Congress party on February 13. However, she had not mentioned any reason for leaving the grand old party.
She had joined Congress on February 20, 2014 and had unsuccessfully contested BJD candidate Bhartruhari Mahatab from Cuttack Parliamentary Constituency.
It is worthwhile to mention here that, Aparajita’s husband and mega star of Odia movie industry Uttam Mohanty is in BJD.
Recently, Mahasweta Ray had joined the saffron fold on February 11 while Mihir Das and Anu Choudhury had joined the party on January 19.
Pintu Nanda, Pinky Pradhan, Harihara Mohapatra, Sritam Das, Ajit Das are the other Odia Cine stars who had joined the party earlier.
