Koraput: In a crackdown on the flourishing illegal drug trade in the district, police seized a truck carrying around 3 tonne of ganja to Chhattisgarh State today. However the driver of the truck managed give police a slip.
Following a tip-off on the illegal ganja consignment a team of Machhkund and Lamtaput police conducted a joint raid and intercepted the ganja laden truck (Registration No. OD 15 C 2305) at Lamtaput Post Morteim Centre in the wee hours and conducted a search of it.
During the search police found ganja weighing around 3 tonne loaded in the truck and seized them.
The seized ganja was being sent to Raipur of Chhattisgarh State from Hanumala area of the district. It would worth over Rs 3 Cr, said police.
Police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the absconding driver of the truck.
