Bhubaneswar: The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal will hear the Odisha-Chhattisgarh river water dispute today.
During today’s hearing the tribunal headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar will take into account the main application as well as the interim plea filed by the Odisha Government in connection with the case.
Notably, the tribunal had earlier directed Odisha Government to submit an affidavit basing on its petition seeking a stay order on the construction of barrages by Chhattisgarh on the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi.
Odisha Government on January 11 had submitted an additional affidavit to the tribunal highlighting the impact in the State during monsoon and non-monsoon period due to the construction of barrages by the neighbouring state.
