Berhampur: At least two persons were killed and 13 others were injured after a tractor on which they were traveling overturned at Panchamba village of Ganjam district on Sunday.
Over 20 people had reportedly hired a tractor to go to the nearby Grama Panchayat to collect rice meant for Public Distribution System (PDS). However, the vehicle overturned due to some unknown reason while they were returning home after collecting the PDS rice.
Two persons died on the spot and 13 others sustained injuries due to the accident, said sources. The injured were admitted at Patrapur Hospital for treatment, added the sources.
Driver of the tractor allegedly fled from the spot soon after the road mishap.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the area following the tragic road mishap.
