Tokyo Olympics: Sprinter Dutee Chand misses spot for Semi-Finals

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s sprinter Dutee Chand finished seventh in the heats and missed a semi-final spot in Tokyo Olympics.

Dutee finished 7th in Heat 5 with a time of 11.54 second in women’s 100m event. She will also take part in 200 metre sprint which slated to be held on on August 2.

Besides, Round 1 and semi-finals of Women’s 200m event are scheduled to be held on August 2 while the final will be held on August 3.

She was the only athlete from Odisha to participate in Tokyo Olympics who qualified for the Women’s 100m and 200m events via world ranking quota.

Earlier in June, Dutee had set national record in Women’s 100m event by clocking 11.17 seconds at the Indian Grand Prix-IV organised by the Athletics Federation of India in Patiala.
