Teachers deny admission to certified disabled students!Malkangiri: In what constitutes gross disrespect to the differently-abled sections of the society, teachers in Tangapalli village under Padmagiri Gram Panchyat in Malkangiri district have allegedly refused to enroll two certified disabled students claiming there was no ‘vacancy’ in the school.

Chandra Purami and Prahlada Madkami are disabled since their birth and even have received certificate of disability from the district administration.

After pass information fifth standard from the village primary school this year, the disabled duo recently went to the nearby school to take admission in the sixth standard. However, they alleged that the school officials sent them back saying that there was no seat in the school.

“I was studying in class V in the Tangapalli school. I have keen to study further. But the teacher refused to admit me in the school,” said Chandra Purami.

School officials, however, dismissed the allegations.

When approached, Malkangiri BDO Biranchi Narayan Darwan said, “I came to  know the matter only now. I will ask a report in this regard and will make necessary arrangements as per government rule for the two students.”

Both of them are fatherless children. Their mothers run the family with whatever they earn by working as daily labourers.

Family members of the minors have requested the district administration to put them in any of the residential schools of the district.
