Tapaswini Express Fire Mishap: Two Persons Detained By Railway Police

Puri: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) here detained two persons in connection with the Tapaswini Express fire mishap that took place at Puri railway station on Friday.

The identities of the arrestees are yet to be disclosed. According to reports, they are being interrogated by the Railway Police personnel who are trying to decipher their role in the mishap.

A five-member team led by Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Raj Kumar is probing the incident while a forensic and railways chemical team is trying to find the exact cause behind the fire.

Noteworthy, commuters were left in a state of panic at Puri Railway Station when the Puri-Hatia Tapaswini express caught fire. The incident took place in the noon while the train was stationary at the Platform Number-4 ahead of its scheduled departure in the evening.

Onlookers said that smokes started billowing out of one of the three affected bogies and immediately engulfed the surrounding areas. In the fire, the compartments S2, S3, S4, and S5 were completely gutted. However, no loss to life was reported in the mishap.
