Nuapada: An eight year old girl was allegedly killed by her father at Kotamal village under Khariar police limits in the district last night.
As per reports, the father of the deceased identified as Mahendra Ketaki hacked his daughter Sarita to death in a sharp edged weapon. The incident took place while the mother of the deceased was not present in the house.
Police said that the accused father later locked the room from outside and escaped from the spot. The mother of the deceased later reached the house and found her lying in a pool of blood.
Police later managed to nab the killer father from a nearby forest area. Police said that they are further interrogating the accused to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
