Shame! 5-year-old girl raped in Puri, probe begins

Puri: In what can be considered a shameful incident, a five-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by a youth under the Puri Town Police Station limits on Sunday.

The matter came to light after the family members of the minor girl reported the matter to the police. Based on which, cops have started an investigation into the matter.

Sources said that the victim was admitted to Puri District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Later, she was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after her condition deteriorated.

Meanwhile, police also have launched a search operation to trace the accused who fled after allegedly raping the girl this morning, added the sources.

A special team is said to have been formed to arrest the accused as soon as possible, said the sources.
