Security beefed up for President Kovind’s visit

Bhubaneswar: Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place here for the two-day visit of President Ram Nath Kovind, who will arrive here on Saturday.

This is Kovind’s first official visit to the state after being elected as the President.

Deputy Commissioner of police Satyabarta Bhoi said that as many as 30 platoons of police would be deployed for the President’s visit.

On Thursday, the Commissionerate Police were seen rehearsing a carcade exercise here in the state capital. In addition, BD (bomb disposal squad) and dog squad members were seen checking every nook and corner of the roads on which the presidential convoy is schedule to move.

Kovind would reach here at 10.45 AM on Saturday and directly go to Cuttack, where he will dedicate the Anand Bhavan Museum and Learning Centre at Tulasipur. He will also grace the foundation day celebrations of the National Law University.

The President will then leave for Puri and have a night stay over there.

On the next day, Kovind would inaugurate the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan’s centenary celebrations in Puri.

The President will also attend the 6th annual convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here on Sunday. During the ceremony, he will lay the foundation stone of the Skill Development India Centre and inaugurate the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai and the Indian Oil Odisha campus in the city.
