School Teacher dies at protest rally in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A primary school teacher died while speaking at a protest rally at the Mahatma Gandhi marg here in Odisha on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased has been indentified as Niranjan Barik, a primary teacher posted in Mayurbhanj district.

According to reports, Barik along with hundreds of teachers held a protest rally pressing for their charter of demands. He fell unconscious while addressing the rally.

Barik was immediately rushed to the Capital Hospital here but the doctors declared him brought dead.

On being informed, Capital police reached the spot and began an investigation into the matter.

Though the exact reason of the death of the teacher is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the teacher died of cardiac arrest, police said.
