Angul: Commuters were left in a state of panic on National Highway-149 near Khemala under Pallahara police limits in the district today after an iron ore laden running truck caught fire and got half burnt in the blaze.
As per the bystanders, the truck which was heading from Keonjhar to Angul at a relatively higher speed in the wee hours when suffered a spark in its tyres, which later engulfed the whole vehicle right on the highway. While the driver and conductor of the vehicle managed to escape by jumping out of the burning vehicle, it got badly devastated in the mishap.
A team of Palalahada fire brigade office reached the spot and contained the flames.
Police have reached the spot and seized the vehicle to ascertain under what circumstances the incident took place.
