Rain expected in Odisha, cyclonic circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said heavy rainfall or thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur across Odisha till November 1.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed, “The low-pressure area is presently over southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining Sri Lanka off Tamil Nadu coast and is expected to move in a westward direction in 48 hours. An associated Cyclonic Circulation is extending up to mid-tropospheric levels.”

Under the influence of the low pressure, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts might receive light to moderate rain or thundershower, informed the Bhubaneswar Met Centre.

Similarly on October 30, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Moderate rain and thunderstorm is likely to occur in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Gajapati on October 31.

Moreover, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Gajapati districts are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershower on November 1, added the Bhubaneswar Met office in its last bulletin on Thursday.
