President’s visit to Puri: Security measures beefed up in Odisha

Puri: The security arrangements across Odisha have been beefed up ahead of President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to Puri starting from February 19.

Reportedly, 40 platoons of the police force will be deployed for the security arrangements. The decision has been taken by the district administration officials following a high-level meeting held today. Discussions were also held for smooth conduct of events and maintenance of law & order during President Kovind’s visit.

he is slated to attend a program of Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Mutt. The mutt authorities have been instructed not to delay rituals and avoid lapse in security measures. Later, the President is likely to offer prayer at Lord Jagannath Temple before returning to Delhi.

Puri Superintendent of Police (SP), Kanwar Vishal Singh, has also said that the security preparations for President’s visit is being strictly taken at different locations. He further added that as many as 200 officers will supervise the entire arrangements which have been finalised as per the Blue Book protocols.

It is to be noted that this will be the third visit of President Kovind to the pilgrimage town so far.
