Bhubaneswar: Shree Lingaraj police last night arrested five dreaded criminals while they were planning to commit a dacoity in the area.
The accused have been identified as Jagannath Pradhan, Naresh Behera, Saroj Patra, Punia Bhoi and Akshaya Mallia. Police have also seized sharp-edged weapons and several packets of chilli powder from the gang.
Police said that Jagannath Pradhan is a hardcore criminal and 14 cases are pending against him at various police stations in the state capital. Similarly, Akshaya Mallia has also seven cases pending against him while Naresh Behera has three cases pending against him.
“We are also verifying the antecedents of the two other accused,” said a police official.
