Speaking at the inauguration of the office-cum-residential complex of Cuttack Bench of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Modi said that the change had come due to the approach of “reform, perform and transform”.

The Prime Minister said that when the difficulties of the country’s wealth creators are reduced, they get protection, then their trust grows in the country’s systems.

He added that the result of the growing trust were that more and more partners were coming forward to join the tax system for the development of the country.

Modi said that along with the reduction in taxes and simplicity in the process, the biggest reforms carried out are related to the dignity of honest taxpayers, to protect them from trouble.

On this occasion Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said:

It is a happy occasion for me to witness the Inauguration of Modern State-of-the-Art, Office-cum-Residential Complex of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Cuttack Bench which is being inaugurated by Honble prime minister today.

I understand; this is the third building complex for ITAT benches in India, and first in Eastern Part of our Country.

It may be recalled that the Cuttack Bench was established way back in 1970, with active involvement of Late Biju Patnaik.

The Government of Odisha, has always been supportive of the development of ITAT, Cuttack Bench, which includes provision of free land for this complex.

In last 50 years, the Cuttack Bench of ITAT has been playing an important role in disposal of cases.

And with this new Infrastructure and IT facilities of E-courts, I believe, we will have quick disposal of Income Tax Appeal cases not only from Odisha but also cases belonging to Ranchi, Patna and Guwahati Benches.

I would like to congratulate the President, ITAT, and other agencies involved in speedy completion of this Office-cum-Residential complex here at Cuttack
