Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police on Sunday unveiled the logo and theme song of ‘Paree Pain Katha Tiye’ (A word for the angel), a two-week state-wide community awareness campaign against child sexual abuse. The logo and theme song was of the awareness drive were launched at a pre-launch session at the Commissionerate Police Headquarters here today.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will flag-off 15 Paree Raths (Paree Express) tomorrow.
The specially designed Paree Raths will cover all 30 districts of the state and converge at Bhubaneswar on June 12 for the concluding function.
Odisha police in association with UNICEF will launch the state wide campaign with an objective to spread awareness among communities, families and parents that child sexual abuse can be prevented and each one has an important role in doing that.
The campaign will also stress on the need to report cases and will inform people about the laws and punishments for child sexual abuse.
Each district’s SP and Collector will lead the campaign. The ‘Paree Express’ will touch the most vulnerable pockets in the state. During each halt, one to two hour public meetings and cultural events will be organized.
All key stakeholders such as elected representatives, community members, influencers, SHG groups and youth and children will be motivated to attend the public meetings. These awareness meetings will be followed by film screenings. Besides, leaflets with message of the safety of the minor girls will also be distributed.
UNICEF has trained folk artists from Zilla Kala Sanskruti Sanga (ZKSS) and Block Kala Sanskruti Sanga (BKSS) for the campaign.
DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma and other senior officials from the Odisha Police with technical collaboration from UNICEF will supervise the campaign.
Asheet Kumar Panigrahi, IG Police, has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer to coordinate and monitor the statewide campaign.
