Odisha’s Mamata Rout surprises everyone, climbs Mount Everest without training

Jajpur: Mamata Rout, a native of Patunia village under Dahrmasala Tehsil in Odisha’s Jajapur district, has reportedly surprised everyone by climbing the Mount Everest without training.

Mamata is working as a senior technical manager at a Bangalore-based Standard Chartered bank. She lives in Whitefield along with her husband and two children. However, she decided to climb the Everest Base Camp during her winter holidays.

With the support of her husband, she contacted the Himalayan Wonders, which helps people to trek in the Everest and Annapurna regions of Nepal, and started her trekking from December 25.

Mamata Rout trekked to the Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and Kalapatthar (5,550) between December 25, 2023 and January 1, 2024 and returned by January 5.

What surprised everyone was that, Mamata Rout dared to trek the mountains at a temperature of – 50 degree Celsius without much training and plant the national flag of India there. The Himalayan Wonders felicitated her for her bravery trekking.

Meanwhile, congratulatory messages are also pouring-in for Mamata Rout from different walks of life for her achievement.
