An Odisha vigilance raid on Subhakanta Swain, Section Officer in the Office of the Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation, Bhubaneswar has been effected.
Bhubaneswar: An Odisha vigilance raid on Subhakanta Swain, Section Officer in the Office of the Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation, Bhubaneswar has been effected.
The Section Officer has been apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000/- (Rupees Eight Thousand) from a Complainant.
The bribe was demanded for processing the application of his brother and issuance of the contractor license.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Swain, Section Officer from DA angle. Further, Rs. 14,990 has been recovered from office drawer of Swain and Rs. 5500 from his personal search so far.
In this connection, Bhubaneshwar Vigilance PS case no. 35/2023 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Swain, Section Officer. Detailed report awaited.
