Odisha to experience heavy rainfall till October 4, orange alert to 11 districts for today

Some areas across Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall ranging from 115 mm to 204 mm on October 1 and October 2.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to experience heavy rainfall due to the active low pressure of the Bay of Bengal. The well marked low pressure is likely to move across north Odisha and adjoining West Bengal during the next 24 hours.

Due to the impact of which, rainfall in Odisha is likely to continue till October 4. Some areas across the state are likely to experience rainfall ranging from 115 mm to 204 mm on October 1 and October 2. the regional meteorological department has issued an orange alert to 11 districts in view of very heavy rainfall today.

Further, a yellow warning has been issued to 12 districts for lightning along with rain showers today. The intensity of rainfall in Odisha is likely to decrease from October 5. The ongoing monsoon season in Odisha has recorded an average rainfall of 1115.4 mm. This lies about three percent less than the expected average amount of rainfall.

Three districts of Odisha have reported a scarcity in rainfall while three districts have recorded excessive rainfall. The remaining 24 districts have recorded moderate amount of rainfall
