Odisha Police raid at fake doctor farmhouse in Khuntuni area of Dhenkanal, sister arrested

Bhubaneswar: In yet another development in the investigation of the arrested Matric fail fake doctor Ramesh Chandra Swain, who has been accused of duping as many as 18 women after marrying them, a police team from Bhubaneswar conducted a raid at his farm house in Khuntuni area of Cuttack and also arrested Swain’s sister Rashmita Beura.

The step has been taken on basis of allegations of duping a businesswoman of Rs 4 lakh in Andhra Pradesh.

The poultry farm of Ramesh near Patkura has been sealed. On February,19 the fake doctor was taken on a 5 days remand and his five-day remand ended today. The police will apply for another 7-day remand for further questioning.

The police is in contact with second wife of fake doctor and if she does not appear before police, then police team will approach her, informed police official.

Notably, a special squad has brought Ramesh’s sister Rashmita Beura to Bhubaneswar for quizzing her in connection with her alleged involvement in the frauds committed by her brother yesterday. Significantly, other members of her family managed to escape from the house during the police raid.

Swain was arrested on February 14 from a rented house in Khandagiri area basing on a complaint filed by a Delhi-based woman schoolteacher in July, 2021. A case has been registered against him at the Mahila police station.

Notably, the 54-year-old Romeo of Odisha’s Kendrapara has married 17 women from various cities including Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Guwahati, and Chhattisgarh.
