Odisha: Only Police Contingent to participate in Republic Day celebration

Bhubaneswar:  In the wake of the rising Covid cases in the State, and to discourage large gatherings, this time the Republic Day celebration of Odisha in Bhubaneswar will see some changes in the usual schedule. The Home Department issued an order to all the District Collectors and SPs today in this regard.

This year in view of the initial signs of surge in cases of Covid 19, as well as increased detection of the variant of concern ‘Omicron’, Odisha Government have discouraged large gatherings and prescribed other preventive measures to contain the spread of the disease. In the wake of the above, changes in the usual schedule are required to be undertaken to ensure maximum safety of guests and participants in the Republic Day, 2022 celebration, the order said.

Here are some major changes that will be undertaken for the Republic Day Celebration in Bhubaneswar this year:

Only Police contingents shall participate in the ceremony.

There will be no participation from students or NCC Cadets etc.

There will be no participation by the general public in the celebration. Only limited number of guests may be invited to the celebration, using e-invites, including selected Covid warriors.

The limited people who will participate in the celebration will follow all the Covid norms like using of mask, maintaining social distancing etc.
