Odisha govt to open Degree Colleges in 18 blocks

Bhubaneswwar: Odisha Government has been decided to open Government Degree (+3) Colleges (in Arts Stream) in the 18 blocks of the state, informed the Information and Public Relation (I&PR) Department.

As per a notification issued by the department, the State Government has been pleased to open Government Degree (+3) Colleges (in Arts Stream) in 18 blocks of Odisa with effect from the academic session 2024-15 in order to ensure quality and promotion of Higher Education hither-to un-covered blocks.

The Degree Colleges will be opened in the following 18 blocks:

1. Gumma block of Gajapati district
2. Dharakote block of Ganjam
3. Thumal Rampur block of Kalahandi
4. Khajuripada block of Kandhamal
5. Bandhugaon block of Koraput
6. Narayaanpatna of Koraput
7. Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri
8. Tiring block of Mayurbhanj
9. Tentulikhunti block of Nabarangpur
10. Kosagumuda block of Nabarangpur
11. Jharigam block of Nabarangpur
12. Raighar block of Nabarangpur
13. Kasipur block of Rayagada
14. Ramanguda block of Rayagada
15. Chandrapur block of Rayagada
16. Nuagaon block of Sundergarh
17. Gurundia block of Sundergarh
18. Kuarmunda block of Sundergarh

Meanwhile, the Higher Education Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, Aravind Agrawal has directed the concerned district collectors to provide 10 acres of land within five kilometer radius of the block headquarter.

The students will be imparted education in temporary buildings until the Degree Colleges get their permanent buildings and infrastructures, said the department.
