Odisha: Dedicated Oxygen Supply Unit At Covid-19 Hospital In Keonjhar

Keonjhar: To combat the scarcity of oxygen supply, the Keonjhar district administration has installed a Oxygen Generator Machine at the Covid-19 hospital in Ranki village.

The district administration in October 2020, decided to purchase a dedicated Oxygen Generator Machine based on Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology through the DMF funds for overcoming the short supply of the medical grade oxygen at the district

The Oxygen Generator Machine was delivered in January 2021 and in the last week of April 2021 it was installed. It was connected with 45 ICU beds and the quality check has also been completed.

The Oxygen Generator Machine can provide an average 5 Jumbo cylinders worth oxygen per hour which is approximately around 8.5 lakhs litres of oxygen per day can be generated from the ambient air.

The district administration has also increased the bed capacity for Covid-19 patients. This apart, the intensive care unit (ICU) with 14 beds has been made operational and steps are being taken to increase the number of beds to 45 beds with 26 ventilators in total.

There has also been demand for 45 ICU beds which is estimated to be around 290 jumbo cylinders per day and shall be met by the dedicated Oxygen Genderator Machine.
