Odisha CM approves Balangir Tusura Airstrip modernisation plan, sanctions Rs 65 Crore

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved an improvement proposal for Tusura Airstrip in Balangir. The CM has also sanctioned Rs 65 Crore for the project.

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved an improvement proposal for Tusura Airstrip in Balangir district on Tuesday.

While approving the proposal, the CM has also sanctioned Rs 65 Crore for the project.

It may be mentioned here that 5T & Naveen Odisha Chairman VK Pandian visited Balangir on August 5 and 6 and had received many proposals from people including the improvement of Tusura airstrip. He had directed district Collector for preparation of a detailed project report.

The then Chief Minister of Odisha Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singhdeo had inaugurated the Tusura airstrip on October 2, 1967. The airstrip, which is about 30 kms away from Balangir District Headquarter Town, is built on a sprawling 50 acres of land and has a 1200 metres long runway.
