Odisha CM announces special package of Rs 42 Cr for development of Sarala Temple

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced a special package of Rs 42 crore in the first phase for the development of Sarala Temple in Jagatsinghpur.

The Chief Minister announced the special package after the Works Department presented the details of the project which is aimed at the development of the temple and its peripheral.

All sub-shrines on the premises of the temple will be developed under the project which has been taken up under 5-T Integrated Development of Heritage and Monuments and Tourists Destination programme.

Kitchen, anand bazar, godown, and a new Dola Altar will be constructed on the premises of the temple under this programme. Besides, main gates will be installed in four sides of the shrine.

Bhoga Mandap, Deepa Mandap, a shoe stand, police control room, temple office, restrooms and toilets will be built under this project.

The first phase of the development project will also have a bronze idol of Adikabi Sarala Das which will be installed near the banyan tree adjacent to ‘Nanda Deula.’

It is to be noted here that 5T Secretary V K Pandian on April 26, 2022 had visited the Maa Sarala Temple to review the development works. After his visit, a master plan for the improvement of the temple and other development works was prepared, which was submitted to CM today.
