Odisha BJP Yuva Morcha president Irasis Acharya arrested ahead of CM’s visit to Bargarh

Bargarh: The Odisha Police has arrested Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Irasis Acharya this morning ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Bargarh today.

Reportedly, Acharya has been arrested from his house in Bhatli town in the district for staging protests by party workers ahead of Chief Minister’s visit.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Bargarh today for the distribution of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) Smart Health Cards. The event will take place at Bijepur stadium. It has been scheduled that chief minister will leave for Bargarh at 10.15 am and by 11 am he will arrive at Satibhata airstrip under Padmapur tehsil following which he will move towards the event place by 12 pm by his helicopter.

As many as 3,63,000 beneficiaries of Bargarh will be provided with the BSKY Smart Health Cards during this event. He will also inaugurate 71 smart schools that have been transformed under 5T initiative. Later, the cards will be distributed to beneficiaries in 12 blocks and panchayats of the district.

Earlier in 2018, Bargarh Town police had arrested Irasis Acharya under Sections 302, 114 and 34 of IPC and Sections 25, 27 and 29 of Arms Act in connection with a firing at Bhatli of the district which took place on June 1 on the same year. He was arrested after interrogation.

However, Acharya claimed that his arrest was politically motivated. Several BJYM activists had staged protest that year before the police station over Acharya’s arrest.
