Malkangiri: In a bid to empower the members of third gender community, the Malkangiri district administration appointed as many as five members of the community as security guards at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here in Odisha , officials said today.
The transgenders who got appointment as security guards are Durga, Sonali, Tushar, Kailash and Hial. They will be deployed at female, gynaecology and paediatrics wards of the hospital, officials added.
The newly appointed transgender persons will be paid a monthly remuneration of Rs 6000 to Rs 7000 with insurance and other facilities.
