No pass, no entry to Odisha! Returnees will be arrested if escape from quarantine centres: Chief Secy  

Bhubaneswar: Following reports of migrants escaping from quarantine centres in the State, Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy informed that the State government will take stringent action against the quarantine violators.

The Chief Secretary, in his address to the general public today said that, the returnees (Odia migrants) who are creating nuisance and escaping from quarantine centres will be kept at quarantine centres away from their respective districts.

“The violators will be arrested and the quarantine period will be extended for them. Besides, they will not get any incentives for the State government,” Tripathy said.

He also said that buses without passes will not be allowed to enter Odisha. Overcrowded buses will also be not permitted to enter the State.

The Chief Secretary further said, “Some buses ferrying Odia migrants from other States are not following prescribed route norms. Stern action will be taken against such vehicles.”

Lauding the COVID19 frontline workers, he said, “In the last two months, we have been able to contain spread of coronavirus in the State. Thousands of frontline workers are working round the clock for the same. Therefore, we will not comprise it at any level.”
