No one can stop KALIA Yojana till I am alive: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik

Sundergarh: A day after lodging complaints with the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and urging him to allow implementation of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today strongly asserted that no one can stop the state government’s flagship KALIA scheme until he is alive.

“You all know about the ‘KALIA Yojana’. Till now, 40 lakh farmers have benefitted with this Yojana. But the BJP has been planning to stop KALIA Yojana. The BJP is trying to stop us from giving rights to the farmers. But no one can stop this scheme till I am alive,” said Patnaik while addressing a public gathering in Sudergarh district for the second phase of the elections.

Each farmer of the state will get Rs 10,000 as two instalments of KALIA Yojana at one go, if the BJD comes to power again, declared Naveen.

Coming down heavily on the Union government, the BJD chief said, “The Central leaders who only remember Odisha during election time need to be asked what happened to promise of second bridge over Brahmani River? What happened to Rourkela Super Specialty Hospital? Why insurance companies prosper at the misery of farmers?”

“Central Government collects thousands of crores as coal royalty but Odisha only gets pollution and dust in return. Coal royalty can be revised in five minutes which could not be done in five years,” he added.

The CM further said, “A Union Cabinet Minister hails from Sundargarh but he could not muster courage to press Odisha’s legitimate demands before their high command. All the people of Odisha are my high command and I will continue the fight for their rights till my last breath.”
