New Year’s Eve 2022: BMC raid bar, street food stalls and food courts in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A joint enforcement squad of Commissionerate Police and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted raids at several places and sealed many bars, street food stalls, and food courts for an indefinite period, on Thursday night, that were found violating Covid-19 guidelines.

The strict checking is being conducted at various eateries in the capital city amid the rising cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 across the State.

Reportedly, the squad has sealed eateries including Khao Gali near Ram Mandir, a food court of Esplanade One Mall, and the street food stalls along Jagamara-New Airport Road, Siripur Market, and Gopabandhu Square in Bhubaneswar.

It has also been reported that the squad also sealed a bar in the Patia area of the city for flouting Covid protocols. The violators will have to submit an undertaking following which the Commissionerate Police and BMC will decide the further course of action, added reports.

It is to be noted that the Odisha government had stated in its guidelines for December that there would be no zero-hour celebration on December 31 and no new year celebration on January 1, 2022, as well. Besides, picnics at public places are prohibited while restrictions have been put on community feast in public places on December 31 & January 1.

People are advised to celebrate such functions at home premises avoiding mass gatherings and adhering to the Covid 19 safety protocols as the Omicron variant of Covid cases is seeing a rise in its tally.
