Man killed by Maoists for destroying forest in Nabarangpur

A man was allegedly killed by Maoists for destroying forests in Raighar area in Odisha’s Nabarangpur on late Friday.

Nabarangpur: Red rebels have once again made their presence known by allegedly killing a man in at Laxmanpur village in Raighar area in Odisha’s Nabarangpur on late Friday.

The deceased was identified as Narayan Nagesh (38). The Maoists left some posters behind which stated that the Mainpur-Nuapada Divisional Committee of the outlawed outfit took the responsibility for the death. They claimed that Narayan Nagesh as a timber mafia, and was destroying forests in the area. They wrote: ” Narayan was punished because he was damaging the green cover.”

The incident has created panic among locals. On being informed, the police and security forces have reached the spot and investigating the case.

Notably, Maoists had also killed a youth suspecting him to be a police informer at Khalepara area in the same district on February 23.
