Sambalpur: A man has hacked his wife to death in Ward 11 under the Kuchinda police limits of Sambalpur district. The deceased has been identified as Damayanti Majhi.
Reportedly, the man, Govind Majhi, returned home from the office around 4 pm in the evening and asked Damayanti for lunch.
Thereafter, a heated argument took place between the couple over the food.
The argument later escalated and hacked his wife to death and eloped from the spot.
On getting the information, Kuchinda Police arrived at the scene and detained him. The cops have also seized the weapon that was used for the alleged murder.
Kuchinda sub-divisional police officer Raj Kishor Mishra, Police Officer Shobhakar Seth, and the scientific team also reached the spot to initiate the investigation. The blood-soaked body was recovered by the cops and has been sent for autopsy.
It is to be noted that the locals have alleged that there was a continuous dispute between the couple.
