Locals observe 12-hour Binika bandh over doctor vacancies in CHC

Sonepur: The ongoing stir by Binika Block Journalists’ Association demanding fulfillment of doctor posts lying vacant in Binika CHC intensified further today after locals observed a 12-hour bandh and resorted to picketing at all government offices.

The bandh which started at 6 AM in the morning witnessed deserted government offices across Binika as locals took to the streets and resorted to sloganeering against the government’s dilly dallying in addressing their grievances. Later they took out a rally in the area.

However, shops and other business establishment did normal business during the bandh today and schools and colleges remained opened as bandh observers kept those out of the purview of their protests.

Vehicular movement on the roads also remained normal during the protests as no road blockade was staged by the bandh callers.

Notably, a series of bandhs had been held in Binika area in past few days demanding filling up of doctor posts in Binika CHC along with other hospitals located at Sankara and Mahapali.

While BJP observed a bandh on August 11 over the same demand, Congress followed it on August 13. Locals held a dawn-to-dusk band on the same issue earlier on August 21.
